The hamam tour I attended in Alanya was the most memorable and relaxing experience of my Turkey holiday. It was much more than a spa center; it felt like becoming a part of a centuries-old cultural ritual.The tour, which started with our pickup from the hotel, continued with the fragrant and mystic atmosphere that welcomed us when we arrived at the center. The massive marble room inside (the central stone) was quite fascinating; although I was a bit hesitant about the heat at first, I felt all my muscles relax the moment I lay down on the marble.The most surprising part was the scrubbing phase. When the attendant started scrubbing me, I couldn't believe my eyes seeing the dead skin coming off my body, it turned out I really needed a deep clean. The foam massage that followed immediately after made me feel literally like I was inside a cloud. Being covered from head to toe in massive bubbles and then having that warm water poured over me provided a good refreshment.After the massage was over, wrapping ourselves in towels and drinking cold apple tea in the relaxation area crowned the day. When I left the hamam, my skin was as soft as cotton and I felt as light as if I had been reborn. I highly recommend every tourist coming to Alanya to have this experience, especially before sunbathing.
